Who are those lucky dogs with The Property Brothers?

Last night Jonathan Scott and twin brother Drew, aka "The Property Brothers" (HGTV) shared the "green" carpet with 2 other family members... little Gracie and Stewie! They were all attending the World Dog Awards (airing on Thursday January 15th at 8pm/7C on CW). I love these guys! Click here for some of Jonathan's tips on dog friendly homes, from moderndog.

How Will You Be Wearing Radiant Orchid?

Taken inside the new 911 Targa at Princeton Porsche
Well, wearing it with a Porsche as an accessory isn't bad - even if it is just inside the showroom!

Click here  (sorry for the 18 seconds of ad) for suggestions on how to wear Pantone's color of the year... I personally love the first look! The jewel colors and the pattern are elegant and fun.

What is the Pantone Color of the Year? Radiant Orchid of Course!

It is that time of year again when Pantone announces the color of the year. This year, on December 5th, a purple - more precisely - "Radiant Orchid"was selected. It is described by Pantone Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman as "An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

I have already seen pictures of a Radiant Orchid Keurig - how fun is that?!
For home interiors, this color will create drama used liberally and at the same time, when used sparingly, is just delightful. I love it with, gray, gold for a sophisticated look; with yellow or turquoise for a more relaxed feel and pair it with red for some interesting energy. For home interiors, this color will create drama used liberally and at the same time, when used sparingly, is just delightful. For stationery, this would look great engraved with gold, or printed with deeper purple .

On a layered card, love it with silver or navy blue - so many options!

What's Your Letterhead?

If the font looks familiar to you, it is inspired from Chateau Marmont.
both photos from Chip-NY.com

I recently came across a great new site and had to share - it's called Letterheady and has a fabulous collection of images showcasing letterheads of those in the business - look for Lena Dunham/Steven Spielberg/Marilyn Monroe/Rolling Stones/Ghandi  - worth the time to peruse and it is so much fun! See if it inspires you and your personal paper style...

Some Things I've Meant to Say

Well, it has been a while! I took a little break last August with the intent to pick up right as the kids went back to school. That didn't happen. I took a longer break and then again extended my time away from Fresh Thoughts... but here I am. Did you miss me? I heard from some of you that you did, that was so nice.
Anyway, so here are some of the things I might have posted on:

Pantone color of the year - 2013 - emerald green - love it for paper and jewels! And I might need to pick up this head to toe emerald green BR look I just came across...

Silver Linings Playbook - Fabulous and Bradley Cooper is too good looking.

Golden Pheasant reopens! Love the font menu (of beers). Yes, my friends own it but I would rave regardless!

Madison, Wisconsin is so colorful in the fall - Farmer's Market - and cheese curls are something to ponder.

On Wisconsin! Trip to the Rose Bowl was fun even though our team lost... Rose Bowl Parade floats are glorious up close! Seeds and flowers - colors are so pure and vibrant!

Kate's expecting! Simply glowing in red.

American Psycho style business card - fun project!

A couple of great things...

I have missed you all! So busy with invitations and life that I took a little break -- but now I am back. And today it is just about love... in fact, I have recently learned that someone who makes a career out of married couples has become a big fan - thanks so much for the attention Ms. N!

Anyway, so as we come into the last quarter of 2012, we are looking at a lot of couples stationery... don't miss out! Here's one we did for a new cool couple who just tied the knot! The other photo above is just an homage to my guy...

Casual June Wedding Invitation

Cream paper with red paper layer image. A coordinating liner completes the look.

This June bride came to me just a few weeks ago - could we get something down fast enough for her June 23rd wedding? Absolutely, I would never let done a bride - love brides!
Hers is a casual backyard wedding and she wanted to incorporate nature, keep it elegant and not too feminine. I think we accomplished all that!

I love texture!

Loving New York in the 1930s in Paris in 2012

On a recent trip to Paris, we happened upon a wonderful exhibit at the Jeu de Paume Museum. It was a real treat, a retrospective on the American photographer, Berenice Abbott, who spent many years in Paris, in the 1920s, socializing and working with many of the great intellectuals and artists of the time. To quote from the program description:

The exhibition also features a substantial selection of images form her Changing New York project (1935-1939), for which she is best known. This undertaking was Abbott’s own initiative but was financed by the Works Progress Administration, part of Roosevelt’s New Deal efforts to combat the Great Depression. Conceived as both a record of the city and a work of art in its own right, this ambitious government commission focuses on the contrast between the old and the new in the rapidly changing city.

I love the subject and her images are an incredible record of the City during the early 1930s.

And, of course this invitation was eye catching - an 1926 exhibit of her portrait work.

Jean Cocteau , poet and more, was one of her subjects

The exhibit is currently in Toronto thru September 19th.
