Cow Camp

Last week my daughter and friends were at cow camp.

Did you know that baby calves (redundant) can stand up just a few hours after they are born? I did not.

This little fashionista and Belieber (believes in the Biebs, as in Justin) was shaving, grooming, milking, feeding and playing with the cows. One day she did her cow's hair and then set it with hair spray - who knew?!!

Camp ended with a cow show; the culmination of a week's worth of cowhand experience. Take a look.

A Fruit Cocktail

Over Memorial Day Weekend we had a lot of fun in the hot, hot sun and we made our own version of a fruit cocktail - not truly remarkable but fresh and fruity. This is pretty strong straight up and definitely NOT for children so, if you have kids around, label it because it looks very tempting.

How to:
Cut up a fresh pineapple into cubes.
Put the cubes into a pitcher of vodka.
Let it soak overnight in the refrigerator.

Voila!
Easy Homemade (almost) pineapple vodka.

Don't You Love Birthdays?

August 3, 6, 7,7,7,7,7, (yes, 5 August 7th birthdays) 11,13,18,30... These are just some of the August birthdays I get to celebrate this month (obviously). I do love celebrating birthdays. The cards, gift giving, shopping, diners, parties, friends, and of course the cakes - of fruit, of ice cream or of decadent chocolate... yum/yum. Yes, summer can be tough if you are a kid as most of your friends might be away but you can enjoy the day/night and not worry about school on your birthday or the next day. And, you get to celebrate again when your friends return. Yesterday I got to celebrate my 2 kids - they are not twins but they are born on the same day. We had an old fashion day - all about them from sun up to sun down... hmmm, I guess it wasn't that different from most other days!

What's Your Fortune?

Look at this fabulous fortune teller! I got very excited when I saw these - they remind me of when I was a kid during the summer but I certainly did not make anything like this. These are not your mama's fortune tellers! They are so cool - they come from Sycamore Street Press. Luxurious letterpress with bright colors, soy ink and great design. Let me know what you think and if I should get you one...
