Are You Feeling Blue?

Turquoise is the color of the year and it is popping up not only on stationery but also in nail polish for summer. Chanel has Nouvelle Vague - a beautiful sea blue, Essie has Mint Candy Apple (see below on me) - more like a Tiffany blue and there are others. It is fun and different. Warning: can run the risk of looking tacky in the day light and I think by week's end you may just want to keep it down below on your toes.

A Wedding in Paris

How perfect that we were in Paris celebrating our Anniversary that we were able to attend a lovely daytime Parisian wedding.
And, turquoise, as the color of the year (see prior post from 1/5/2010), was well in attendance. I got a bit obsessed as you will see.
Also, I'm loving the hats, the headpieces and the vintage getaway car.

Fall 2010 Fashion Color Trends

The colors above are what the industry experts see as the fashion colors for Fall 2010. They are rich, inviting, exciting and optimistic colors that allow for creative combinations. Chocolate Truffle with Purple Orchid or Lipstick Red, Endive and Oyster Gray.
Of course, with Turquoise being the color of the year (see prior blog from January 2010) there had to be a new blue in there and it is a great one! It's blue Lagoon. It's My Pantone

My new Pantone app kept me very busy for hours yesterday as I planned a color makeover and traveled back home, across the country, from Deer Valley. I had mountains/stone on my mind and now it will be up on my walls. The app allows you to take a photo or use an existing photo from your library, then tap on the part of the photo you are interested in for color. Tapping reveals a Pantone color and number. You can review harmonizing colors, fan decks and more. Look at what I got from tapping on various parts of my photo. Chocolate Brown, Turkish Coffee, Winter Wheat, Monk's Robe, Coffee Bean, Seal Brown, Vanilla Ice, Anthracite and more.



I also have the Benjamin Moore app that does some of the same things - but not as much. It gives you the name of an actual Benjamin Moore color you can then reference. The Pantone app has more features and is more fun; cost is $9.99 verses the free Benjamin Moore app.

Warning, the color on the iphone screen may vary from the actual Pantone color /Benjamin Moore color. Actually, take out the "may vary" - it does vary. But, it is still a lot of fun to use and can be helpful.

FYI -I can't have a room without a bit turquoise, the Pantone color of the year. Stay tuned.

Turquoise Unveiled as Color of the Year

Pantone just announced the color of the year for 2010. It is turquoise, PANTONE 15-5519. And, after a tough 2009/08, what better color could there be to start off this new year? It is refreshing, invigorating and, as they say, so full of fantasy - it just takes you away. Hmmmm.... and just when we were all getting back to work.

So now I am dreaming of a layered beach invitation of turquoise,coral and crisp white and or maybe I'll go to cocktail party in turquoise and steel grey (sparkling accessories work here) or maybe I can pop a bit of turquoise into my ski attire (in my dreams is this one, in turquoise, from Bogner)
